FOUR SEASON TOOLS - River Root Farm

In 2007, Eliot Coleman introduced Mike to Greg Garbos, an innovative and industrious engineer, and together they founded Four Season Tools. The combination of Mike's agriculture expertise and Greg's engineering knowledge has resulted in the design of industry leading, innovative products and services that extend crop growing seasons, enable greenhouses to move, revolutionize greenhouse production, and create opportunities for pastured animals to be protected within movable agriculture buildings.

Through the Iowa Environmental Quality Incentives Program, funding has been made available for farmers to purchase high tunnels in order to improve plant quality, improve soil quality, and improve water quality by reducing nutrient and pesticide transport. Following a winter 2010 application process we were informed late spring that we were recipients of the grant to help support us in the purchase of a high tunnel. Currently all our growing structures are from For Season Tools. In the short time since River Root Farm's creation, we have already constructed one heated greenhouse and two unheated mobile high tunnels, both V-Track systems. We expect to add additional structures in the very near future!
