WELCOME TO THE FARM!We are a diversified vegetable and seed farm nestled into a hillside along the Upper Iowa River. On our terraced fields, we are constantly working on improving what sustains us: our soils. We specialize in year round farming with mobile, unheated high tunnels. Our vegetables are grown, harvested, and processed with care to maintain the highest quality.
All of our products are Certified Organic by MOSA.
Have you tried our microgreens yet?
Harvested very early in their lives; microgreens are tender, delicate, and highly flavorful. They are also recognized as some of the most nutrient-dense greens available. There have been countless studies that prove the link between the phytonutrients in cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cabbage, mustard, etc) and cancer prevention. Research has also shown that one-and-half cups of full-grown broccoli has the same amount of the important phytonutients as just one ounce of broccoli four days after it has germinated. Bon appetit!
Please check out our selection of vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings on the racks at the Oneota Community Co-op, Decorah, IA and the Lilian Goldman Visitors Center, Seed Savers Exchange, Decorah, IA starting in mid-April.
WHY GROW YOUR OWN GARDEN?
YOUR FOOD WILL BE FRESH AND DELICIOUS. You can't beat the taste of fresh, home grown vegetables. Produce from a grocery store has been harvested early and transported over long distances before it ever reaches your plate. This means that you rarely taste it when it is truly fresh and flavorful. Once you taste the harvest of what you have grown, you will want to grow more!
YOU WILL KNOW YOUR FOOD, HOW IT IS GROWN, AND WHAT IS IN IT. You can truly know your food, how it is grown and processed, and avoid the use of chemicals in growing your food.
YOU WILL ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO EAT HEALTHY. Getting your children involved with the process of growing food will not only empower them with an important skill, but it will also get them interested in trying different types of vegetables they have grown. It is a great way to promote healthy eating habits at a young age.
YOU WILL BE TAKING PART IN A CENTURIES OLD ACT OF HUMANKIND AND CONNECTING YOURSELF TO THE EARTH.
